The 4-panel manga “Kariage-kun” is being adapted into a live-action film for the first time after 42 years since its serialization began.

「BS Matsushita Tokyu's Saturday Drama Series 4th Installment: 'Kariage-kun'" will start airing on January 3rd.

“Kariage-kun,” the representative work of Masashi Ueda, known for his 4-panel manga such as “Kobo-chan” and “Furiten-kun,” celebrates its 51st year in the industry this year. Published in Futabasha’s “Monthly Manga Town” and “Shukan Taishu” magazines, “Kariage-kun” will be adapted into a live-action drama for the first time after 42 years since its serialization began.

Actor Jun Ki Totsuka will portray the eternal office worker, Karage Masata (Karage Shota), in the upcoming live-action adaptation. The drama will be broadcasted on BS Matsushita Tokyu (BS260ch, nationwide free broadcast) starting from January 7, 2023, at 11:00 PM (every Saturday, 11:00 PM, 12 episodes, each lasting 30 minutes). “Kariage-kun,” a series that has entertained readers of all ages and genders throughout the Showa, Heisei, and Reiwa eras, will combine multiple short stories within each episode. It will depict a lively and comical office chaos filled with whimsical pranks.
