The novel “Revolver Lily” is the award-winning work of Kyo Nagaura, a hard-boiled writer known for works such as “Akaiba,” “Murders,” and “Underdogs,” which won the 19th Oyabu Haruhiko Award. It has gained popularity for its unpredictable and compelling storyline, as well as its robust and action-packed scenes. In the film adaptation of “Revolver Lily,” directed by Kōun Yamada, the focus is on the dark heroine Yuriko Kozone, who emerges in a chaotic era dominated by men. It promises to deliver an unprecedented and grand-scale entertainment action masterpiece. Of particular interest is how the film will depict the intense six-day battle between Yuriko and Shinta, “only two against a thousand Imperial Army soldiers,” which serves as the climactic finale. Synopsis of the film Revolver Lily It is the late Taisho era, in the year 1924. Tokyo, after the Great Kanto Earthquake, has seen an increase in modern buildings made of reinforced concrete and vibrant districts such as the largest-scale flower town. At the age of 16, Yuriko, a former skilled spy with a record of involvement in the assassination of 57 individuals over three years in East Asia, now works as a female owner of a famous sake shop in the flower town. On the other hand, there is Shinta, a young boy whose family was killed and who holds the key to the army funds entrusted to him by his parents. When Shinta seeks Yuriko’s help, they both become targets of the army. Will they be able to survive and find a safe haven in Tokyo after the Great Kanto Earthquake?
